Following the acquisition of mobile Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, the Belgian Federal Police has launched a pilot project aimed at equipping its fleet of patrol cars with a system capable of identifying vehicles and matching data from various accessible databases. This system will enable rapid intervention in cases of stolen vehicles, vehicles on the run or those that require immediate attention for other reasons.
LOAD actively participated in this project, taking responsibility for the entire user interface and the software used in the patrol cars. This included capturing data and photos from the camera, storing them locally in a router/gateway installed in each vehicle, and enabling seamless interaction with the police’s existing central system.
