Challenge

Lightenjin is one of the leading Portuguese companies in the lighting industry, known for its innovative, efficient, and sustainable solutions. With a wide range of products, the company faced two major challenges. The first was to provide product engineers and sales staff with an internal management tool that provides digital data sheets with an approval system for quality assurance. Second, how to provide its customers, such as architects, designers, engineers, and constructors, with timely and relevant information about their products and a tool that allows them to quickly create project-specific documentation?

Our goal was to create a game changer and not deliver two separate digital products without any connection. Instead, we looked at these two tools from a unique perspective, viewing them as complementary solutions that could address both internal and external challenges simultaneously.

Our approach

The project started with a comprehensive definition of functionalities and design layout. We conducted several rounds of discussions with stakeholders and created wireframes for the two main components – Dataenjin and MyLightenjin.

Dataenjin is a tool aimed at internal teams, allowing them to configure their product offerings for their target market and manage the versioning of datasheets used by sales teams. Sales teams often struggled to keep up with constantly updated datasheets, so a more streamlined approach was needed.

MyLightenjin, on the other hand, was designed for end users and installers and is accessible through a registered login. This platform allows customers to create projects and categorize architectural areas where Lightenjin’s lighting products will be installed. The products can be accessed directly from the internal database, ensuring an always up-to-date offer. Once the project configuration is complete, a report can be generated with data sheets, images and quantities of all the products used, on which each customer can enter their name and company brand.

Dataenjin
To improve the efficiency and accuracy of updating product information, Lightenjin’s previous process of manually updating datasheets with graphic design software was replaced with a more efficient approach. We created a dashboard that uses an Excel file that serves as a database for technical data. This way, daily updates can be easily imported, and less technical information, such as descriptions, can be added through a back office. This new system is designed to ensure that customers have access to the most up-to-date information available.

MyLightenjinProject
Previously, Lightenjin’s customers had to request general data sheets from the company for their projects, which often led to delays and unnecessary information. To provide a more efficient solution, we developed a tool that allows customers to search Lightenjin’s catalog for specific products and access detailed information, including sub-models. Customers can then add the selected products to their projects, assign them to specific building spaces, and supplement them with relevant information. Finally, customers can export the entire project as a customized PDF that includes selected product data sheets, photos, descriptions, and contacts. This streamlined process saves time and ensures that customers receive exactly the information they need for their projects.
