Challenge
The need for this application became clear in the context of the current pandemic that affected us all. The EuAlerto platform provides a system that integrates daily registration, health status update and exposure tracking for nurses related to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. It is an upgrade of the existing platform of the “Secção Regional do Centro” and serves as an essential tool to track and report any situation as needed, promoting a closer connection between the Order of Nurses and its members. The global health crisis has demonstrated the immense value of digital operating models, and many companies are likely to accelerate their digital innovation and transformation as a result.
Our approach
This platform has its roots in a community project established to combat Covid-19 (https://tech4covid19.org/). By leveraging this initiative, we were able to overcome the initial hurdles in developing a digital solution, including solution design and technology architecture. This allowed us to focus on implementing the key functionality needed to achieve the platform’s main goal: monitoring nurses’ well-being during the pandemic.
Nurses can authenticate on the platform using their personal credentials from the Order, as the system is directly connected to the Order’s authentication mechanism. We are now ready to launch the third phase of development, where we will integrate new features into the platform.

Results
After numerous update phases and new features introduced during the pandemic, the platform is now officially available at https://srcentro.ordemenfermeiros.pt. As its relevance and popularity among the Order of Nurses and its affiliated organizations continue to grow, the platform is continuously evolving, with various new features being introduced to improve its functionality.
Moreover, besides the website, the platform can also be accessed through Android and iOS applications, which will soon be available for download in the respective stores.
